14th September A v R.J.K. Ferndale
New Season new look team - the manager has high hopes for this team and his beliefs were only to be reinforced when Coleshill made a blistering start to this game. With the added pace of Paul 'Curly' Sanders up front with Pete Soane, Coleshill really went for the jugular within the first 20 minutes. Coleshill took the lead when they were awarded a penalty after Curly was clattered into by the opposing keeper and Tom Fila fired home from the spot. Coleshill continued to pressure their opposition and the second wasn't long in coming when Liam Humphreys picked the ball up in his own half before dribbling to the edge of the box and drilling the ball into the bottom corner. As the half went on Ferndale came more into the game but were as surprised as Coleshill were when they were awarded a penalty with half-time drawing in. The penalty was scored and the half ended 2-1, but the manager was confident enough of finishing the job in the second half. With Mark Simpkins making a very pleasing debut in the centre of the park and Dan Martin at the back, it looked as if Coleshill would soon add to their lead. The manager's plans were soon altered as Chris Quinton received a ridiculous second yellow card, leaving Coleshill with 10 men. After a quick reshuffle, Coleshill pushed themselves back into the game, but as the game went on legs became tired and a confusion in the defence allowed the Ferndale forward to lob the ball over the advancing Paul Titcombe to equalise with 5 minutes remaining. The game ended 2-2 and the manager was left wondering if it was two points lost or a point gained once they had been reduced to 10.
